Women's Legal launches bold new strategy for 2025-2028
17 September 2025
Creating transformational change in Victoria’s response to family and sexual violence is the focus of our work for the next three years because it is essential to improving the lives of so many in our state.
Our three-year strategy was officially launched by Victoria’s Attorney-General, the Hon Sonya Kilkenny, alongside supporters, partners and leaders from across the legal and family violence sectors.
The launch event also featured a powerful address from Kathryn Joy, advocate and researcher in family homicide at the University of Melbourne. Kathryn shared their lived experience as a child bereaved by domestic homicide, highlighting the importance of lived experience voices in shaping services, policy and reform.
Building on more than 40 years of advocacy
Our strategy is informed by the experiences of clients, the expertise of the Women’s Legal team and more than four decades of advocacy for gender equality and access to justice.
CEO Claudia Fatone said we’re taking an intersectional feminist approach as we drive these changes. And we’ll strengthen our partnerships to create lasting change.
"Together, we can ensure women and non-binary people across Victoria are safe, feel understood, and are confident to make informed choices about their lives."
