Identifying critical legal issues for family violence
People experiencing family violence often face multiple legal issues across different courts and laws. As a first point of contact, identifying these issues early helps people access the right legal assistance sooner.
You will learn:
- How to identify critical legal issues relating to family violence, including family violence civil and criminal matters.
- How to identify other common intersecting critical legal issues, including family law, child protection, migration and tenancy matters.
- How to provide essential legal information to victim-survivors of family violence to support them to navigate the legal system, including appropriate referral options.
- The role of the lawyer and how to work collaboratively with lawyers.
Who is this for?
Social workers and other community service workers who support people experiencing family violence, and who have a basic understanding of family violence.

This training runs over 2 consecutive half days.
