Legal essentials for community sector professionals: navigating child protection
Interactive training to help you understand the Child Protection system and when to refer for legal assistance.
By the end of this training you will:
- Understand the powers and responsibilities of Child Protection under the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (Vic).
- Understand key processes and legal outcomes when a family is involved with Child Protection, including the legal process and role of lawyers.
- Identify when a family may come into contact with Child Protection, including where there is a risk of family violence.
- Communicate accurate and relevant legal information to clients affected by, or at risk of, Child Protection involvement.
- Identify situations where legal advice is required and facilitate appropriate referrals for clients.
Who is this for?
Professionals who work in family violence and other community organisations who are prescribed under MARAM and may work with clients experiencing family violence and Child Protection involvement.
