Legal essentials for community sector professionals: navigating child protection

By the end of this training you will:

• Understand the powers and responsibilities of Child Protection under the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (Vic).
• Understand key processes and legal outcomes when a family is involved with Child Protection, including the legal process and role of lawyers.
• Identify when a family may come into contact with Child Protection, including where there is a risk of family violence.
• Communicate accurate and relevant legal information to clients affected by, or at risk of, Child Protection involvement.
• Identify situations where legal advice is required and facilitate appropriate referrals for clients.
