Laura John

She/Her

Laura has experience in leadership roles across government and the community legal sector. She has practiced in public law for over a decade and has been involved in strategic litigation, policy and public advocacy to protect human rights and challenge unfair laws. Laura currently works as an Associate Legal Director at the Human Rights Law Centre, defending the rights of migrants and refugees. She has previously served as a board member of not-for-profits including the United Nations Association of Australia and Democracy in Colour. As a proud feminist and the daughter of Sri Lankan migrants, Laura is delighted to lead the Board at Women’s Legal.
