Volunteer

Women's Legal is not accepting volunteer applications at the moment.

 

We invite you to check our website for future opportunities. 

Volunteers have been supporting Women’s Legal Service Victoria (WLSV) since 1981. We are committed to supporting volunteer involvement to extend and enhance our services and to provide meaningful work for women within the legal sector and associated fields.

WLSV has exemption #A439 from provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 1995 and the below positions are for females only:

 

Legal day volunteer - we are not accepting volunteer applications 

Volunteer work is currently not available from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday to law students.  Please keep checking with our website for new volunteer openings.  The work includes assisting our lawyers with casework, research.

Essential Requirements: Law students must be undertaking third year or above of a law degree, unless the law degree is a second degree. There is a minimum commitment required of one day a week for 12 months.

Legal advice line - evening volunteer -  not accepting volunteer applications

Volunteer work is available between 6:00pm to 8:30pm Tuesday and Thursday for lawyers holding a practising certificate. The work involves providing legal information, advice and referral to women who contact our Legal Advice Line.

Essential Requirements: There is a minimum commitment required of one night session a fortnight for 12 months. To work on the Legal Advice Line an additional time commitment is required to attend induction training.

Policy & projects volunteer - not accepting volunteer applications at this stage

Volunteer work is available between 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. The work involves assisting our Policy & Projects Manager to research law reform and policy issues and other related activities.

Essential Requirements: There is a minimum commitment required of one day a week for 12 months.

Legal education volunteer - not accepting volunteer applications at this stage

Volunteer work is available between 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. The work involves assisting our Legal Educators to research, design and develop legal education sessions and other related activities.

Essential Requirements: There is a minimum commitment required of one day a week for 6 months.

Administration volunteer - not accepting volunteer applications at this stage

Volunteer work is available between 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. The work involves assisting the administration team with the day to day running of the organisation.
